Return of the DNRP Repair Events

Saturday, March 14, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m at the WC Field House at Steve Cox Memorial Park (1321 SW 102nd ST Seattle 98146.)

The WCTP welcomes Tom Watson, eco consumer and the DNRP “Fixers” back to Steve Cox Memorial Park for an upcoming FREE Repair Event on Saturday, March 14 from 9:30am – 12:30pm.  At community repair events, skilled volunteer “fixers” try to repair and mend small household and clothing.  Popular items to repair include: small appliances and electronics, lamps, vacuums, toys, electric power tools, small furniture such as chairs and drawers, jewelry, clothing and other textiles.

To note, fixers are unable to work on equipment that uses gasoline. They also can’t assist with cell phones, tablets, microwaves, knife or tool sharpening, lengthy reconstructive repairs, major clothing alterations. Finally, all items brought in – including clothing, fans and vacuums – must be reasonably clean.

Repairs are offered first-come, first-served (for people’s first items only), as fixers are available. If people bring second items, the repair team will try to get to those items after they’ve worked on everyone’s first items.

If you have questions about the item you plan to bring, or any other questions, contact event coordinator Tom at tom.watson@kingcounty.gov or at 206-477-4481. Additional details available at the Facebook Event Page.

The upcoming event marks the 8th Fix it event at Steve Cox Memorial Park. The 2025 Log Cabin event supported 80+ attendees with the fixers working on 76 items, and the team mending 65 of the items.  White Center Teen Program repairs included a front desk drawer, Sunny P’s heat lamp, Marta the River Otter (DNRP Mascot) zipper and velcro, foosball table, 7 pool cue sticks, a latch to the gym grate fire door, 2 office chairs, the lock on the security-camera case, 6 Motorola digital two-way radios, a projector stand, paper cutter, outdoor volleyball net stanchion post, light stand for YouTube studio, Lathem electronic time clock, piano bench, and even the piano itself.

The Teen Program is already collecting items to repair on March 14th. Thanks in advance to the entire DNRP Repair Event Team and we hope to see you there!
