WC / N Highline Tree Giveaway

The WC Teen Program and the King County Rec Aides are thrilled to partner with the King County Urban Forestry Program, Dirt Corps, and the King Conservation District to host a FREE Tree Giveaway at Steve Cox Memorial Park on Saturday, December 5th!

Trees do so much for our neighborhoods. They keep us cool during the summer, soak up storm water when it rains, improve water quality, and clean our air.  Plus, trees make us feel good!

King County and Dirt Corps are teaming up to bring FREE TREES to White Center/North Highline!

Tree Giveaway Event
Saturday, December 5, 2026 from 10am–2pm
Steve Cox Memorial Park Picnic Shelter
1321 SW 102nd St, Seattle, WA 98146

Who Can Get Trees?

Tree recipients agree to:

  • Plant trees in the ground on private property within the White Center/North Highline unincorporated area (homes, schools, churches, or businesses).

Trees are intended for unincorporated King County community members who do not qualify for programs in nearby cities. There are similar programs for residents that live in Seattle, Tukwila, or Burien.

  • Kept trees outdoors until planted in the ground.
  • Water and care for your trees.
  • Renters: please make sure you have permission from your property owner.

What You Get

  • Up to 4 free trees per property.
  • 1 watering bag to help your new trees thrive.
  • Friendly guidance from staff to help you pick out the right tree for your location.
  • Instructions on how to plant and water your trees.

How Does it Work?

  • Pick out your trees at the event.
  • A quick tree application to fill out on site at the event.
  • Take it home, plant it.
  • Water and care for your tree long-term.
  • King County’s Urban Forestry Program may occasionally check in with tree recipients with helpful tips and reminders to support you in caring for your new trees.

Things to Know

  • A variety of tree sizes and species will be available.
  • Trees are first come, first serve; no reservations.
  • Choosing the Right Tree:
Think about the space you have in mind: full sun or shade? Soil type? Nearby buildings or utilities? Come prepared with a planting spot so we can help you select the best tree for your property.
